My favorite characters introduced in season 3 of LOST.

Juliet Burke
Juliet is my #1 favorite character introduced in season 3, matter of fact, she is in the top 5 of my all time favorite Losties. She owned season 3, from her introduction, to her 2 centrics and by being one of the most debated characters of season 3. Season 4 found her on the back burner as she wasn't one of the O6. But in season 5 she was busy time traveling, working in the Dharma motor pool, and having Sawyer's back among other things. Initially, I was so against the idea of Juliet and Sawyer together as a couple, but they managed to win me over. I fell hook line and sinker by the time LaFleur aired. Some people argue TPTB ruined Juliet's character by matching her up with Sawyer. I don't think so. First off, Juliet delivered her first live, healthy baby on Island, something she had always wanted to be able to do successfully, with James' encouragement. Also, from her introduction, we as an audience, knew she was a tragic character who was going to meet a tragic end. If TPTB dropped the ball with Juliet's character, it was by not developing her relationship with Ben. There should have been more interesting dynamics and scenes between the two of them.

Richard Alpert
Richard is in my #2 position for season 3 favorites. The thing I love about Richard is all the mystery surrounding his character. I hope we find out a lot more about him in season 6. But as I say that, I hesitate also, cause I don't want the answers to the mysteries to detract from his aura of mystery.

Nikki and Paulo
I'll just lump Nikki and Paulo together as my #3 pick. I remember being excited during hiatus about them coming on LOST; yes, I even read spoilers back then. I had really liked Rodrigo Santoro in the movie, Love Actually. (BTW, a great holiday movie, if you haven't seen it yet!) I didn't really mind them joining the beach camp. But the episode, Expose, jettisoned them into LOST icon status. Expose is a polarizing episode, people either loved or hated; and I loved it. RIP, Nikki and Paulo.

David Reyes
I heart Hurley's parents, so David Reyes is my #4 pick. I realize that he started out as a LOST bad dad, abandoning his family when Hurley was a young boy. I do believe that he came back for selfish reasons, initially. But somewhere, maybe when he saw that Hurley had kept the mustang all those years, he had a change of heart and wanted to right by Hurley and his mom.

Horace Goodspeed

Honorable mention goes to Horace Goodspeed. He ran the DI, he was kind to Ben as a child, he has history with Richard, what's not to like? Plus he was terrifyingly awesome as Eugene Victor Tooms in season 1 of the X Files, but I digress.
