My favorite new characters of season 2 of LOST.

Benjamin Linus aka Henry Gale
Ben edges out Desmond as my #1 pick for my season 2 favorites. From "I'm Henry Gale from Minnesota." to "Your friends are coming home with us." Ben had me. It's probably more accurate to say Michael Emerson's portrayal of Ben had me hooked. I could never make up my mind if Henry was telling the truth or not to our Losties. His "got milk" speech was classic. I enjoyed Ben's back story in seasons 3 and 5. Rounding up the O6 in season 4 was the best part of that season to me.

Desmond David Hume and Penny Widmore
Desmond is my #2 pick for season 2 only because his character isn't as well defined as Ben and TPTB seem to have wrapped up his story line. Personally, I'd rather see it wrapped up, Penny, Curly Charlie, and Desmond a happy family, than to see any one of them turn into a sacrifice the Island demanded. My shining Desmond moments would be his introduction, back story, and the Constant phone call. I feel I would be remiss if I didn't include a shout out to Penny, Desmond's faithful and loyal better half.

Pierre Chang
Mark Wickmund, Marvin Candle and Edgar Halliwax, will we ever find out what is up with all his aliases? My #3 pick for season 2 is a minor character, but I love the way TPTB introduced and developed his character within the framework of Dharma videos. Actually seeing him in Dharma times in season 5 and his interactions, especially with Miles, humanized his character further. Seeing his arm injured during the Incident was the cherry on top of this character's story.

Ana Lucia, Bernard, Mr. Eko and Libby
I'm lumping the Tailies together as my #4 pick from season 2. Three of the four died rather quickly after their introductions. Seventeen days in LOST time for Ana and Libby and 24 days in LOST time for Mr. Eko. I feel their characters had a lot more potential than we ever actually saw on screen. Don't misunderstand, I liked their stories; but I don't understand or appreciate TPTB introducing new characters, to basically kill them off. RIP Ana, Libby and Mr. Eko, we hardly knew you.

Charles Widmore
Honorable mention goes to Charles Widmore. Who would have thought when we saw him sitting in his fancy car trying to buy off Desmond that he had lived on the Island? My jury is still out as to which side I think Widmore will stand with in the end. I don't know if it will influence me, but he did play a deliciously evil, 25th amendment invoking Vice President in season 2 of 24, but I digress. [LOST/24 trivia fun fact: John Terry (Christian Shepherd), Daniel Dae Kim (Jin Kwon), and Michelle Forbes (Karen Decker, Oceanic spokesperson) all had roles in season 2 of 24; but again, I digress.]
