My favorite minor characters of season 1 of LOST.


Doc Arzt
Doc Arzt is my #1 favorite minor character of season 1. Line for line, he's had some of the best of any of the characters in the entire series. Unfortunately, he is another character that has had an iconic death too. I must have rewatched him blow up 5 or 6 times and screamed every time, til I figured out that he blows up right after he says "...temperamental..."

The Smoke Monster
AKA Cerberus or more affectionately, Smokey, my #2 pick is a character of mystery. We have been finding out a little more about him every season, but we still don't know a whole lot. I tend to like these mysterious characters the best. Favorite Smokey moment was him going head to head with Juliet at the sonic fence.

Christian Shepherd
Christian is my #3 pick for season 1. There is still mystery as to why we've seen him on Island; we all have our favorite theories, but hopefully season 6 will answer us definitively. I understand Christian was an alcoholic, but I think of all the bad dads on LOST, Christian provided a good education for Jack and tried to get sober. At least he never stole Jack's kidney or killed Jack's mom.

Vincent
Doesn't the picture say it all? Vincent is just a feel good character that always makes you smile. And there is an air of mystery about him too, just rewatch the pilot if you have forgotten.

Leonard Simms
Leonard Simms is my #5 pick. Maybe cause I worked in mental health for over 5 years and actually had a resident that repeated numbers, or maybe cause of all the theories he's spawned, I'm not sure why I like him so much, but I do.

Sarah Shepherd
Honorable mention goes to Sarah Shepherd. Not being a Jack fan, this choice may surprising. But that is precisely why I like her, passive/aggressive as this choice may be. Many Jack fans enjoy trashing her online, how she misunderstood Jack, how could anyone have Jack and then not want him, how she could have another man. Really? I thought it was a great twist that the night Jack shares he kissed another woman, she had already been planning to leave him. You go girl! Plus she is awesome at comedy too, as the mom on Modern Family, but I digress.
